Vasco Da Gama City is named after the Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama. It is the headquarters of the Mormugao Taluka region. The city lies in the western tip of the Mormugao Peninsula and is 30 Kms from Panaji. The Mormugao port is built near the city’s harbour and the Goa Shipyard Limited which builds Navy and Coast guard vessels is built here since 1957. It is built around the city’s harbour and the barge repair yard which includes the Naval Base INS Hansa shares the entire control over the Dabolim Airport enclave. The city is known to be a former colony of Portuguese Territory of Goa and also the city is sometimes referred as Sambhaji Nagar.

The famous places to visit here are the Clock towers along with Bogmalo Beach with Hollant and Baina being the two smaller beaches around Vasco. The city of Vasco has these many tourist places to visit which are the Japanese Garden along with the Vasco’s Municipal Market. The San Antonio Island is another great places to visit and if the scenic places has to be visited the Zuari River is one of the prominent places to be visited. The city is known for the Pilot Point which is developed by Mormugao Port Trust along with the St. Andrew’s Church which is the places of worship for the Christians is the most visited place.

The Tilak Maidan stadium which often hosts the football matches could be one of the great meeting points for football lovers who are found to be in every part of Goa and most of the matches are played here among the local clubs. The city is a boiling point of culture and the authentic Goan cuisine could be found here with the language being Konkani the city is although not much on tourist map due to which the people who loves solitude can visit this place at first.

Vasco da Gama or Vasco is the largest populated city of the Goa state. This city was established in 1543. It is located at the bank of the Zuari River. It is the Indian Navy's base camp. Dabolim international airport is just 0.5 kilometers far from the city. Its nearest tourist attractions are Mormugao Harbour, Bogmalo Beach, Naval Aviation Museum and St. Andrew's Church.
