Se Cathedral Church, Old Goa

Se Cathedral Church is dedicated to the Catherine of Alexandria and is one of the ancient structures in Goa which makes Portuguese as brick by brick. It is one of the historic church and is located in the old part of the state which is located at the banks of the Mandovi river. It also represents royal and imperial atmosphere of bygone Portuguese era with the cathedral with an important attraction of Goa. It is one of the celebrated sacred buildings which holds the prestige of the seat of the Archdicose of Goa and has a dignified aura with the grandiosity of the architectural wonder which has been declared by the UNESCO as the world heritage site.

If one thinks about the popular belief and it is said that a vision of the Holy Christ appeared with the Church and due to that the cross is gradually increasing with the size in every year. The Portugese-Maneulin structure has the architectural style along with the exteriors of the sprawling Se Cathedral in Tuscan with everyone’s delight and with the several old paintings which is decorated on the both sides of the St. Just near the offering place and is one of the most visited Cathedral Church in Goa.

Se Cathedral or Se Catedral de Santa Catarina Church is located in Velha Goa city. It was constructed in 1640 by Portuguese ruler. This church total length is 250 feet and width 181 feet; it is dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria. It was built in memory of the victory on Muslim army when Goa captured in 1510 by Portuguese ruler. This church was two towers but one tower broken in 1776. This church also has a big bell which called Golden bell.
