Devaki Krishna Temple which has its legend and dates at the time of Mahabharata and has a prophecy declared when the eighth son got killed by Kansa who was the king of Mathura by the name of Krishna. The Yashoda’s daughter got exchanged by Devki to save Krishna and after many years while Devaki met the young Krishna she could not recognize Krishna. Thus, Krishna transformed when Devaki asked him to be a son again and this divine incident is celebrated here. The most temples around this foster mother Yashoda and the locals might tell that this makes one of the unique temples in the country.

Just like the another Hindu temple in this region with the idol in the temple faced the rescue act because of the Portuguese invasion and their destructive ways. Thus, it got moved from its original location Chorao Island in Tiswadi Taluka with Panaji nearby Bicholim area and finally bought to Marcel in Ponda. It is said that beside the presiding deity the temple also hosted rescue act of other deities and it thus looked a similar fashion with the known site that brings people from different communities and thus the Gods also needs rescue efforts at times and if you want to reach there easily then in local name it is called Mashel.

Devki Krishna temple is a famous pilgrimage place which is dedicated to Lord Krishna and his mother Devki. This temple is situated just near of the Marcella or Mashel town in ponda taluka, north Goa. It is just 17 kilometers far from Goa state capital city Panjim. This is only one temple which dedicated to both mother and son (Devki - Lord Krishna). Lord Krishna idol is exist in child age which built by black stone. People celebrate many festivals here like Gokulastami and Ramanavmi. The temple daily open timing is 6.30 a.m. to 1 p. m. (morning) and 3 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. (evening). Arti performed two times every day 12.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. Temple has four priests who performed pooja arti which names are Shri Vithal Bhat, Shir Rohidas Acharya, Shri Siddesh Acharya and Shir Prasanna Pai.

This temple also has accommodation facilities at affordable rate which includes Rs.500 per day A/C room charge and Rs. 150 per day NON-A/C room charge. Temple complex has approx 30 rooms. Attendants offer favourable types water hot, normal and cold.
